The population of Baltimore Maryland in 2005 was approximately 641097 people. Of the offenses known to law enforcement officers in 2005, 11248 were violent crimes and 33241 were property crimes. Violent crimes in 2005 included 269 cases of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, 162 cases of forcible rape, 3910
cases of robbery and 6907 cases of aggravated assault. Property crimes in 2005 included 7338 cases of burglary, 19691 cases of larceny or theft and 6212 cases of
motor vehicle theft.
