Crime Statistics for Detroit Michigan in 2005
The population of Detroit Michigan in 2005 was approximately 900932 people. Of the offenses known to law enforcement officers in 2005, 21240 were violent crimes and 53972 were property crimes. Violent crimes in 2005 included 354 cases of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, 589 cases of forcible rape, 6820
cases of robbery and 13477 cases of aggravated assault. Property crimes in 2005 included 15304 cases of burglary, 17383 cases of larceny or theft and 21285 cases of
motor vehicle theft.
If you divide these numbers out for comparison with other communities,
there were 23.6 violent crimes per every 1000 people and there were 59.9
property crimes per 1000
people in 2005.
