The population of Missoula Montana in 2005 was approximately 62377 people. Of the offenses known to law enforcement officers in 2005, 254 were violent crimes and 3629 were property crimes. Violent crimes in 2005 included 1 case of murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, 40 cases of forcible rape, 40
cases of robbery and 173 cases of aggravated assault. Property crimes in 2005 included 395 cases of burglary, 3046 cases of larceny or theft and 188 cases of
motor vehicle theft.
